The Mets have reunited with reliever Jeurys Familia, signing the right-hander to a 3year, $30 million contract, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. The deal is only pending a physical.

Familia, 29, began the 2018 season with the Mets but was traded to the Athletics on July 21 in exchange for Bobby Wahl, Will Toffey, and international bonus slot money. Between the two teams, Familia registered 18 saves with a 3.13 ERA and an 83/28 K/BB ratio in 72 innings.

Familia will set up for closer Edwin Díaz, whom the Mets acquired along with second baseman Robinson Cano earlier this month. The Mets are certainly relevant in what should be a highly competitive NL East in 2019. The Phillies, Braves, and Nationals have all bolstered their rosters this offseason as well and will likely continue to do so throughout the winter.
