PUMA just made its official return to the basketball market this year when they dropped models like the Clyde Courtand Palace Guard. Danny Green, a brand ambassador, donned some sleek gold Disrupts as he helped the Toronto Raptors secure the franchise’s first NBA title. But PUMA’s basketball roots go back—all the way to the ’80s.

One of the most notable pairs from the era was the signature sneaker of Hall of Fame center Ralph Sampson, the Ralph Sampson Mid. The retro hoops shoe has returned, true to OG form, with a brand new colorway.

It features a white leather upper, perforated toe, and padded ankle collar for additional support. Details include a Peacoat blue Formstrip on each side panel, matching liner, and PUMA Red overlays wrapping the heel. Sampson’s signature is stamped on the lateral ankle area in gold foil, and a fair share of PUMA logos are showcased on the lateral side panel, tongue tag, heel, and midsole.
